Privacy.

Cosmos is ephemeral. We don't keep your name, your words, or who said what once the lobby ends.

What stays in memory

When you create or join a lobby the server keeps: the lobby's 4-character code, your server-issued playerId (a UUID stored in your browser's sessionStorage), your display name, your avatar config, the words you submit, and per-turn scoring. All of this is held in process memory.

It is destroyed when:

  • The host ends the game.
  • The lobby is idle for two hours.
  • All players disconnect for ten minutes.
  • The server restarts.

What we don't keep

  • No accounts, no email, no passwords.
  • No analytics, ad networks, third-party trackers, or cookies.
  • No persistence. The only database is RAM.
  • No transcripts of words submitted, scoring, or reviews.

What's stored on your device

A short playerId per lobby code is written to sessionStorage so a tab refresh rejoins your seat. Closing the tab clears it. We don't write cookies.

Server logs

The server writes operational logs (lobby created, player joined, errors) with the lobby code and a player UUID for debugging. No display names, no submitted words, no scoring is logged. Logs are kept for whatever period the operator of your specific Cosmos deployment retains them.
